WeTransfer not working.
WeTransfer has had a rough couple of years on uptime and email delivery. When the upload page hangs, the email never arrives, or the download link 404s, the fix is rarely on your end. The cleanest workaround is to use a different service for the one send that is not working today. Drop the file on quik.space, copy the resulting link, paste it directly into your message. There is no recipient email step, so there is no spam-folder problem. The upload widget below is ready when you are.

What is happening
WeTransfer caps free transfers at 2 GB. The service has had repeated regional outages and email-delivery issues since 2023.
When WeTransfer is not working it is usually one of three things: a regional outage on WeTransfer's side, the upload stalling because the file is over 2 GB on the free tier, or the email link not arriving because spam filters caught it. WeTransfer's status page is the first place to check before troubleshooting your own end.
Common workarounds
Here is what most people try first, and where each option falls short.
- Check WeTransfer's status page
- Visit status.wetransfer.com to see if there is an active incident.
- Downside. If WeTransfer is down, all you can do is wait. No way to push the file through.
- Try a different browser or clear cache
- Close everything, open an incognito window, try again.
- Downside. Rarely fixes anything when the actual problem is on the server side.
- Lower the file size below 2 GB
- Compress or split to fit under the free tier cap.
- Downside. Already-compressed formats barely shrink. Splitting is fragile.
- Tell the recipient to check their spam folder
- Ask them to look for the download email.
- Downside. Email delivery is unreliable. Some corporate filters drop WeTransfer mail entirely.
The cleaner fix
Skip WeTransfer entirely. Drop the file on quik.space, copy the link, paste it directly into a message, email, or chat. There is no email delivery step, so there is no spam-folder problem. Free up to 100 MB, supports single files up to 5 GB on a one-shot upgrade.
The upload widget at the top of this page is the same one on the homepage. Drop the file, copy the link, paste it where you wanted to attach. See pricing for the full table or how it works for the three-step explainer.
What we will not do
We do not read your file. We do not train AI on your file. We do not sell your file. Every upload is encrypted in transit over HTTPS and at rest. The share ID is an 8-character random string with roughly 218 trillion combinations, so the link is practically unguessable. After 72 hours plus a 7-day grace period, the bytes are permanently purged from storage and cannot be recovered.
Frequently asked
- Why does WeTransfer fail so often lately?
- WeTransfer has had repeated regional outages and email-delivery issues since 2023. Their email-link model also depends on the recipient's spam filter not eating the message, which is increasingly common.
- Does quik.space use the same email-link model?
- No. quik.space gives you a plain HTTPS URL the moment the upload finishes. You paste it wherever you want. No email-delivery step on the recipient end.
- Will the recipient need a quik.space account?
- No. They click the link, see the file, hit download. No signup on either side.
- What is the size cap?
- 100 MB free. Up to 500 MB for $1. Up to 5 GB for $5. Every payment is one-shot, no subscription.
- What if I have already paid for WeTransfer Pro?
- Use quik.space for the one send that is not working today. Your WeTransfer subscription is unaffected.
