What is a Final Cut Pro library?
Final Cut Pro library files use the .fcpbundle extension with no single standard MIME type. The format sits in the audio category. Typical files run 500 MB - 5 GB (library), which is well above what most email services will accept as an attachment.
Why you can’t email a Final Cut Pro library
An FCP library is a macOS bundle containing events, projects, and originals. The whole thing is usually several gigabytes. Email caps make this unworkable.Slack, Discord, and most other workplace tools have similar caps, often around 1 GB for free tiers and with aggressive per-channel storage limits. Even when the file fits, it counts against the recipient’s mailbox quota forever.
How quik.space handles Final Cut Pro library
quik.space takes the zipped FCP library byte-for-byte. The recipient unzips on a Mac, double-clicks the .fcpbundle, and Final Cut opens with every event and project in place. The share page renders an inline HTML5 audio player, so the recipient streams the file before downloading the original.
The file lives for 72 hours by default and then enters a 7-day grace period. We do not train AI on your files. We do not share them with third parties. After grace, the bytes are permanently purged from storage. Read the full policy on privacy.

Frequently asked
- Should I consolidate media first?
- Yes. File > Consolidate Library Media gathers all originals into the library bundle. Otherwise external references will be missing.
- Will the recipient need the same FCP version?
- FCP supports forward compatibility within recent versions. A newer FCP can usually open an older library; the reverse may fail.
- What if the library exceeds 5 GB?
- 5 GB is the hard cap. Generate proxies and ship a proxy-only library, or split the library into smaller events.
- Can a Windows or Linux machine open it?
- No. The .fcpbundle is Mac-only. For cross-platform, export an XML or send rendered masters.
