How to send an MP4 file.
Email won't carry an MP4 of any real length. WhatsApp will re-compress it into mush. quik.space stores the exact bytes you upload and gives you a share link in seconds. The recipient plays the file inline in their browser and downloads the original with one click. Free up to 100 MB, $1 between 100 MB and 500 MB, $5 between 500 MB and 5 GB. No signup, no ads, no AI training on your files.

What is a MP4 video?
MP4 video files use the .mp4 extension and the video/mp4 MIME type. The format sits in the video category. Typical files run 20 MB - 2 GB, which is well above what most email services will accept as an attachment.
Why you can’t email a MP4 video
Gmail caps attachments at 25 MB. Outlook caps at 20 MB. A 10-minute 1080p MP4 from a phone is usually 200 MB to 1 GB. Email rejects the send before it even leaves your outbox.Slack, Discord, and most other workplace tools have similar caps, often around 1 GB for free tiers and with aggressive per-channel storage limits. Even when the file fits, it counts against the recipient’s mailbox quota forever.
How quik.space handles MP4 video
quik.space stores the exact bytes you upload, no re-encoding. The recipient hits the share link and the file plays inline in the browser via the native HTML5 video player, then downloads with one click. The share page renders an HTML5 video player for browser-native codecs, so the recipient can scrub and watch inline before downloading the original.
The file lives for 72 hours by default and then enters a 7-day grace period. We do not train AI on your files. We do not share them with third parties. After grace, the bytes are permanently purged from storage. Read the full policy on privacy.

Frequently asked
- Will quik.space re-encode my MP4?
- No. We store the exact byte stream you uploaded. Codec, bitrate, frame rate, container metadata, all preserved. The recipient downloads the same file you uploaded.
- Can the recipient watch the video before downloading?
- Yes. The share page renders an inline HTML5 video player. Anyone with the link can hit play in any modern browser, then download the original file if they want to keep it.
- What if my MP4 is over 100 MB?
- Files between 100 MB and 500 MB cost $1 one-shot. Files between 500 MB and 5 GB cost $5. No subscription, no stored card.
- Does compression on WhatsApp or iMessage happen on quik.space?
- No. Messaging apps re-compress video aggressively. quik.space passes the original MP4 through untouched, so a 1080p clip lands as 1080p, not 480p.
- What about H.265 / HEVC MP4 files?
- We store and serve HEVC the same way as H.264. Inline playback depends on the recipient's browser. Safari plays HEVC natively. Chrome plays it on hardware that supports it. The download always works.
