How to send a PSD file.

PSD is where designers do real work. The files are heavy because everything is in there: layers, smart objects, vector text, adjustment stacks. quik.space stores the PSD byte-for-byte. The recipient opens it and every layer is exactly where you left it.

What is a Photoshop PSD?

Photoshop PSD files use the .psd extension and the image/vnd.adobe.photoshop MIME type. The format sits in the image category. Typical files run 50 MB - 2 GB, which is well above what most email services will accept as an attachment.

Why you can’t email a Photoshop PSD

A working PSD with smart objects and 30 layers easily runs 500 MB to 2 GB. Email caps at 25 MB, Slack at 1 GB, but most teams hit per-channel storage caps fast.Slack, Discord, and most other workplace tools have similar caps, often around 1 GB for free tiers and with aggressive per-channel storage limits. Even when the file fits, it counts against the recipient’s mailbox quota forever.

How quik.space handles Photoshop PSD

quik.space stores the PSD bytes verbatim. Layers, smart objects, masks, vector text, all intact. The recipient opens it in Photoshop, Affinity Photo, or GIMP and gets every layer in the layers panel. The share page renders a full-size inline preview, so the recipient sees the image immediately and downloads the original at full resolution.

The file lives for 72 hours by default and then enters a 7-day grace period. We do not train AI on your files. We do not share them with third parties. After grace, the bytes are permanently purged from storage. Read the full policy on privacy.

Common use cases

  • Hand off a layered PSD to a junior designer for finishing
  • Send a print-ready PSD to a prepress operator
  • Share a PSD master to a client for sign-off
  • Pass a PSD with smart objects to another designer

Frequently asked

Will my Photoshop layers survive?
Yes, untouched. Smart objects, layer masks, layer styles, adjustment layers, vector text, all preserved byte-for-byte.
Does the share page preview a PSD?
No inline preview for PSD. The recipient downloads the file and opens it in Photoshop or a compatible editor.
What about PSB (large document) files?
PSB has its own page at /share/psb. Same concept, but PSB supports files over 2 GB.
Are color profiles preserved?
Yes. ICC profile, color mode, bit depth, all intact.
