What is a Android APK?
Android APK files use the .apk extension and the application/vnd.android.package-archive MIME type. The format sits in the dev category. Typical files run 10 MB - 500 MB, which is well above what most email services will accept as an attachment.
Why you can’t email a Android APK
APKs are Android app packages. Most mail services strip executable attachments. Android also requires sideloading to be enabled before the recipient can install.Slack, Discord, and most other workplace tools have similar caps, often around 1 GB for free tiers and with aggressive per-channel storage limits. Even when the file fits, it counts against the recipient’s mailbox quota forever.
How quik.space handles Android APK
quik.space stores the APK byte-for-byte. The recipient downloads on Android, taps to install (after enabling Unknown Sources), and the package runs the same as if downloaded from any other source. The share page does not preview archives or installers. The recipient downloads the file with one click.
The file lives for 72 hours by default and then enters a 7-day grace period. We do not train AI on your files. We do not share them with third parties. After grace, the bytes are permanently purged from storage. Read the full policy on privacy.

Frequently asked
- Will Google Play Protect flag my APK?
- An unsigned or unknown APK gets flagged on install. Sign your APK with a proper keystore before distribution to reduce friction.
- Should I use AAB (Android App Bundle) instead?
- For Play Store, yes. For direct sharing, APK is what the device installs. quik.space treats both the same.
- Is the APK contents scanned?
- We hash against a malware-hash blocklist. We do not unpack the APK.
- Can iOS users install this?
- No. APK is Android only. For iOS use IPA + TestFlight, or share via App Store.
