How to send a .fig file.

Figma is mostly used via share links. But when you need to hand off an actual .fig export, between accounts, for archive, to a client who needs the source, the files are big. quik.space stores the .fig byte-for-byte and gives the recipient a clean download link.

Drop your Figma file (.fig) here.

What is a Figma file (.fig)?

Figma file (.fig) files use the .fig extension with no single standard MIME type. The format sits in the design category. Typical files run 10 MB - 500 MB, which is well above what most email services will accept as an attachment.

Why you can’t email a Figma file (.fig)

Most teams share Figma via Figma's own share link, not as a .fig file. But .fig exports are large (full design system files can hit hundreds of MB) and email rejects them.Slack, Discord, and most other workplace tools have similar caps, often around 1 GB for free tiers and with aggressive per-channel storage limits. Even when the file fits, it counts against the recipient’s mailbox quota forever.

How quik.space handles Figma file (.fig)

quik.space stores the .fig export byte-for-byte. The recipient imports it back into Figma via File > Import from .fig. The share page does not preview proprietary design files inline. The recipient downloads the original and opens it in the matching application.

The file lives for 72 hours by default and then enters a 7-day grace period. We do not train AI on your files. We do not share them with third parties. After grace, the bytes are permanently purged from storage. Read the full policy on privacy.

Common use cases

  • Hand off a .fig export to an agency that does not share your Figma workspace
  • Backup a critical Figma file outside the platform
  • Send a .fig to a client who needs the source
  • Archive a finished design system before a team migration

Frequently asked

Can I send a .fig file?
Yes, but most teams use Figma's own share link instead, since it works without re-importing. The .fig is for offline backup or cross-account handoffs.
Will components and styles import correctly?
Yes, when the recipient imports the .fig into Figma the components and styles come along.
Does the share page preview a .fig?
No. Figma's format is proprietary. The recipient downloads and imports into Figma.
What about Figma's library linkage?
Library links break across workspaces. The recipient may need to relink to their own library.
