How to send a PDF file.
PDFs are the universal document format. They are also the format people most often need to hand back and forth, contracts, proofs, scans, portfolios. quik.space stores the PDF byte-for-byte and shows it inline on the share page so the recipient reads first, downloads if they want to keep it.

What is a PDF document?
PDF document files use the .pdf extension and the application/pdf MIME type. The format sits in the document category. Typical files run 100 KB - 200 MB, which is well above what most email services will accept as an attachment.
Why you can’t email a PDF document
Most PDFs are small, but design proofs with embedded high-res images can hit 100 MB. A scanned book chapter at 600 DPI runs even higher. Gmail's 25 MB cap is the usual bottleneck.Slack, Discord, and most other workplace tools have similar caps, often around 1 GB for free tiers and with aggressive per-channel storage limits. Even when the file fits, it counts against the recipient’s mailbox quota forever.
How quik.space handles PDF document
quik.space stores the PDF byte-for-byte. The share page renders an inline PDF viewer in the browser so the recipient reads it without downloading first, then downloads the original if needed. Where the format is browser-friendly (PDF, plain text, markdown), the share page renders an inline preview. Other documents download directly.
The file lives for 72 hours by default and then enters a 7-day grace period. We do not train AI on your files. We do not share them with third parties. After grace, the bytes are permanently purged from storage. Read the full policy on privacy.

Frequently asked
- Does the inline viewer work on mobile?
- Yes. The share page uses the browser's native PDF viewer, which works on iOS Safari, Android Chrome, and every desktop browser.
- Are PDF form fields preserved?
- Yes. The file is byte-identical, so AcroForm fields, signature placeholders, and JavaScript all survive.
- Will scanned PDFs with OCR text remain searchable?
- Yes. We do not strip the OCR layer.
- What about password-protected PDFs?
- The encryption stays intact. The recipient needs the password to open it after download.
